Sheila Baker

Sheila Baker is a passionate teacher and communicator. She continues to be inspired by her own teachers and students.

She runs regular yoga retreats at Launde Abbey, Leicestershire, as well as weekend workshops and a one to one practice at her yoga studio in rural Leicestershire.

For the last fifteen years she has facilitated yoga retreats Mysore, South India, and also taken groups to the beautiful secluded centre, Basunti, in the Himalayan foothills for the past five years. Further retreats were held in the Basque region of France 2015.

Retreats are theme-based and use postures, breath, chanting, imagination (bhavana) and creative sessions to deepen and focus in a meditative way.

Touchstone Courses and workshops in the UK combine yoga techniques and creative exploration as a sadhana to more meditative awareness. Further Study Workshops for each year group continue the flow of Touchstone’s themes.

Sheila has been studying and teaching yoga for over 30 years. She is a registered aYs senior teacher and has studied with TKV Desikachar in Chennai and the UK, and trained with Paul Harvey. She studied with Peter Hersnack in France and UK from 2002 until his untimely death in 2016.

She is also a designer and has taught design undergraduates at several universities for many years, with a special interest in colour and symbolism. Her teaching continues to be a fusion of both yoga and creativity.
